FREQUENTLY ASKED DWI QUESTIONS:

Q. What are the Penalties for a DWI Conviction?

A.  Even a first time DWI arrest carries severe consequences for a person.  A person convicted of DWI will receive a fine of $500 or to $1,000 plus surcharges. The driver's license will be revoked for a period of six months to one year, and an ignition interlock device requiring a breath sample before starting will have to be installed in any vehicle you operate. Finally, the court may also impose probation for up to three years, and up to one year in jail.

FREQUENTLY ASKED TRAFFIC TICKET QUESTIONS:

Q. What Should I Do if I Forget to Appear in Court?

A. Among the things to remember in such a case, the first and most important is that you don't make the situation worse by delaying dealing with it. Second, don't call the court until you speak with an attorney. It is very possible that an attorney may be able to bring you before that judge on a different date and have the warrant that was probably issued in your case set aside, allowing your case to proceed.
